Fly With Me

I stretch forth my hands
To those who wish to fly with me
We'll pass the time
You and I
Like birds gliding
On still blue seas
Don't doubt
But soar like Peter Pan
On grand adventures
To Neverland
We'll duel pirates
Slay sea monsters
Ride on turtles
And surf on waters
************************
Must you roll your eyes
We're only passing time
You say your too old
And you claim you lost your dentures
I am most sad grandma
So long until our next adventure

True Confessions

I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on this site. It has been quite an adventure and the first time I have ever jumped head first into writing. It has been a wonderful experience for me especially reading all the talented writers out there. I must admit that I am someone who gets discouraged easily and when I read the popularity generated by so many of you, I am not sure if my style is engaging and thought provoking.

I feel like I should seek writing in another forum. Perhaps I will catch lightening somewhere else. I hope I am successful in other endeavors and I will continue to write and dream.

Memories

Memories take flight
Like butterflies attracted to sunlight
Dipped in color till they syrup sweetly
Lovely wings which stretch out deeply
Deep and blue like ocean's waves
Golden bronzed like sun kissed babes
Rich and brown like earthen ground
With roots that train like bridal gowns
Blessed with light and full of splendor
They wrap like strings to keep our souls together

Monster

I realized the monster I was scared of
That was inevitably beating on my door
Had its eye and grip on me
Breathed smoke and fire
Hurled great hailstones from its very fist
Shook the ground with its walk
Jiggled with an intimidating laugh
And squared itself for the kick
Had completely missed me
Crashed all mighty like King Kong
Hurtling to the earth like thunder
Shattering to pieces like glass
Or glitter
I couldn't tell
The remnants were so tiny
I ran it over my fingers
To examne the thing which held my breath
Before I realized what I feared was no threat

Rides to the Moon

On rides to the moon
Do you notice the stars
That blinks in blackened skies
Like fireflies
Or perceive the galaxies
Swirl in brilliant array
In colors only God arranged
Or see the earth
A clear, blue marble
Spinning endless
In a universal marvel

Post Oscar Humor

(Granted this year’s Oscar was scaled back, but this is an ode to the prima donna days of Hollywood)

Scene: (A radiant actress bats her eyes furiously like a fan. She’s a vision in a rose colored dress but a peevish glare settles on her face).

Actress: Oscar, Oscar, Oscar! I swear there’s a lot of buzz over a little thing.

(Her date glares at everyone at the table and taps his fingers nervously on a silver spoon)

Date: Darling, perk up! Suppose the camera spots you sulking.

Actress: Let them see me sulk. Why should I grovel for a naked, golden statue?

(She whips the napkin on the table and spills a glass of water on her lap. Her date lowers his head into his sweaty palm).

Actress (continues): Honestly, this is a waste of time. I’m waiting for the golden hand of the academy to bless me. (Laughs) Ten years of this madness. I’m liable to walk out this door for my own sanity.

(A hush falls over the room)

Presenter: And the Oscar goes to…
(The actress hears her name. Incredulously, she stares at her date, shoots out her seat, and runs audaciously to the stage).

Actress: Oh, what an honor! I’d like to thank the fantastic, wonderful academy for recognizing my work.

Date (mumbles): What a drama queen.
(End Scene)

Alex In Wonderland

This week my cousin Alex came for a visit. I can only imagine what he'll be. For one, he's blessed with speed and leaps like graceful runners. He's got rhythm, spinning and twirling like a sophisticated dancer. He belts out tunes like a karaoke master. Bursts with furious strength like a football player. And yet, he possesses the intelligence and wit of great thinkers. Perhaps he's destined to be a scientist or doctor in his future. In the world of Alex, anything is possible. I can only wonder what he'll be.

Eyes

I like your eyes
Eyes wandering deep
Inclusive eyes
Elusive eyes
Eyes searching me
Like bloodhound eyes
Chocolate chip eyes
Eyes vast and deep
Like ocean eyes
Eyes greener than grass eyes
Searchable, inquisitive gaze
Beholding the world
Unfolding on stage

Stomach's Delight

When I composed this poem, I was pretty hungry at work. Hope you enjoy this funny play on words.

On silver dishes
The stomach wishes
For a delightful meal
To tickle the tongue
Candy apples bobbing deliciously
Sugar melting on taste buds like snow
Drum sticks growing tall like trees
And cotton candy float above
A Willy Wonka fantasy

So blissful, the stomach purrs in song

Sudoku Madness

Something of My Own

Something of my own, she said. Something of my own. Because the world had ransacked her hope one night, tore up everything she owned. And lorded over her with cruel might. The great tunnel leading into the abyss without the prospects of seeing light. But then, my friend, there is still the opportunity to be, to existent in a world of possibilities. She chose to live and love and write.

Words To Feast On

My new motto: A Word A Day Keeps the Sadness Away. Hope this quote inspires you as much as it has me.

Blessings

Blessings. Sometimes they are subtle like still breath rising from your chest. Or eyes awakening from a long rest. It could be the smile from a stranger's lips. Or the laugh of a little one in bliss. The simplicity of life is a blessing. For in God's loving arms, my soul is resting. With peace and joy, he is my heart's content. He paints the sky and swirls the clouds to my amazement. The wind reminds of His presence. How near I am when I wander in the desert. And though night bleeds blackness, he brightens the stars. I am most grateful for life's little blessings.

Love that rescues in a crisis love
Love that digs in the pit love
Love that binds in a storm love

Silence

Take a sip of silence
Let it brew on your tongue
Let it rise like air
Or fly like a kite
Let it pause the chaos
That consumes your night
Let it sit on your consciousness
And read your thoughts with ease
Lull you like a baby's rhyme
Enchant you with beguiling eyes
May it whisper sweet thoughts from its depth
May it pass on wisdom with its very breath

Introduction

Dear Sir or Madame
If you will please kindly
Read the words on this page
And be amazed
Or outraged
Either way
Provoke yourself to deeper meaning
Get lost in the flow
Or pause
At what moves you
Or loses you
Regardless
It will be an experience to keep
