Desert (Haiku)

Hi all,

I am writing a pair of haiku for Haiku Heights and the theme is desert.

Hot love thirsts
In a dry desert
Sand burns toes

Dreams unquenched
Mirage holds her tongue
Shower down

Marriage (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is marriage.

The Wayfaring Bachelor:

I am beholden to sunrise
With love so hot it burns my soul
The horizon is an island
For this bachelor to call his home
And sea goddesses left me shipwrecked
For my heart has wandered a year or two
And so you see, my dear
I cannot be married to you

Tree (Haiku Heights)

Hi all,

The following haiku are written for Haiku Heights:

A tree grows
In desolate earth
Budding green

Perfect home
For birds to nest in
Feathers sing

The heart nests
Beneath your sun wings
Open beak

Light (Sky Watch)

Warm light
Passes between
Your heart and mine
The breath of heaven
Rising to meet us
Let it never depart

Happy Sky Watch!!

Struggle (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I.  The theme is struggle.

You smile
Meet me
In this space
Of time
Where the heart reaches
Ceases to struggle
And unfurl
The white glove
To be kissed

You smile
Humble me
Make me shudder
Blush pink
Sprint and leap
Into a dream
That's filled with light

You smile
And I remember
My innocence
Becoming full
Like the moon
Sweeter to drink
Falling in love
With you

Hurricane!

Hi all,

I have been without power for 11 days now due to Superstorm Sandy.  I miss you all in the blogger world.  I am dedicating this poem to the people most affected by the storm.  May God bless them in their recovery.

Swallow me
With your watery lips
And lead me
Through a world
Of darkness
Where the moon
Is merely
A faint, distant friend
Beneath the rubble
Endless debris
We once called home
Sadness ensues
The heart washed away
Into the ocean
The trees shake
As they say your name
Displaced, uprooted
From mother earth
Fragrant candles
In the wind
Lights our souls
Like the sun
And you leave
As you came
In utter darkness
