A Visit From Fairies

Hi all,

I am posting this for Thursday Tales. The accompanying art is by Michaƫl Zancan at DeviantArt.

John had spent the entire evening daydreaming in his dorm room. He loosened his grip on the paintbrush and drifted off into a long dream. He could feel the gentle light of dawn caressing his arms. The walls opened up, and he basked in the hour of sunlight. Vegetation sprouted from the earth and grew along the four corners of his walls. He spotted beautiful, foreign creatures with wings as fairies. They flickered in shades of blue and teal and rested along his body. They spoke in hushed, little voices. John rested his head and marveled at their angelic song.

When John woke, the light had receded and descended into night. He could hear the muffled voices and cackles of his roommates beneath the door. He unearthed new longing and inspiration as visions of his dream came alive on canvas. Little fairies rested their wings on his mind. They burst in ripe colors as he painted feverishly through the night.

Oubliette (O.S.I)

Hi bloggers,

This week's O.S.I. prompt is oubliette, a unique French word. I chose the poetic style rondelet to write this poem.

The dragon stirs
Venom skin and eyes midnight black
The dragon stirs
Her nostrils flail like hot lava
Thick tendrils gliding down her back
Dungeon walls tumbling with a crack
The dragon stirs

National Poetry Month

Dear bloggers,

This month is National Poetry Month. Some bloggers are dedicating an entire month to poetic posts. Also, April 29th is Poem in Your Pocket Day. This will be a very creative and fun month. I hope you all enjoy some of the festivities.

He said goodbye to himself in the morning
Mostly for his own amusement
A roguish smile parting pearly whites
Quick inspection with his tongue
Ruffling his dark hair
His fingers running against his brow

It was the world that greeted him
The sun lit like romantic lips
Most evenings, he was alone
He'd sit and drift
Wind cascading upon his knees
A summer of reveries
He was surrounded by dreamers
A tipsy twinkle in his eye
Burning in the bulb of a firefly

His shadow turns to greet her glove
Though strangers, she's quick to give her love
They slip away into a fantasy
Before he wakes from daydreams

Wet Paint

Bleeding reds and blues
She painted the world
From her mind's eye
Chaotic brushstrokes
Clouds fashioned like mustaches
They were fantastic
And raindrops falling
Black and hard
Against her back
Paint splattered like bullets
On the mahogany pavement
Knee deep in paint
The palette her riverboat
Men as trees
Bending brown limbs
Birds swallowing blue skies
And her eyes
Floating like a great balloon
To the edge of the canvas
