Silence (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

This poem is written for O.S.I. The theme this week is silence.

Music and praise
In the glorious sun
The trees exhaling
In August light

Serenading birds
Beating their wings
Church windows wide
Choir voices melt
Psalms singing sweetly

On the street corner
Girls turning ropes
Rhythm on pavement
Bodies rise and jump

Alone in my thoughts
Winding quiet path
A humbling prayer
For this gift of silence

Quiet You, Quiet Me

Quiet you, quiet me
Our words hum and simmer
Our souls run free
Your ears brush against mine
Hear the howling wind
The rustle of tree limbs
The creak of the swing set
We are sitting in
The owl's hoot
Commanding the darkness
The silence of shadows
Bending in silver light
Quiet you, quiet me
A lullaby carouses the universe
Till only our heartbeat's greet

Silence

Take a sip of silence
Let it brew on your tongue
Let it rise like air
Or fly like a kite
Let it pause the chaos
That consumes your night
Let it sit on your consciousness
And read your thoughts with ease
Lull you like a baby's rhyme
Enchant you with beguiling eyes
May it whisper sweet thoughts from its depth
May it pass on wisdom with its very breath
