Adventures With Cecelia and Kim (Pt II)

A few months back, I posted the crazy adventure of my friend "Kim" and I on our trip to the art exhibit. Our latest adventures took us up the Hudson and in the beautiful town of Irvington. The view of the Hudson is so exquisite you forget you are in New York.

On Sunday, we visited the home of Washington Irving, credited as being the first author to make a career in writing. His most notable works include Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and A History of New York. In addition to being a literary treasure, Irving was well travelled, owned thousands of book in his library collection, and loved to dance (my favorite part). We visited his home in Sunnyside. It is so intriguing to see how people lived in the early history of our country. For anyone interested in visiting this area of New York, you can check out http://www.hudsonvalley.org/.

Man on the Rocks

This week's Simply Snicker's challenge includes the words bare, bark, and beside. The accompanying painting is Caspar David Friedrich's Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. His painting is quite vivid and lovely. Much thanks to Linda. For some reason, the painting made me think of something somber.
