A gift
In this river
Of tears
Falling against
My cheeks

Don’t weep
For me
I’ve watered
My garden
In a river
Of tears

Smile breaks
The mighty deep
Pure joy
Jumping in
A river
Of tears

The river divides my tongue

In salty gulps

Blue and glistening

Swimming in sorrow

Hatred an epidemic

With a jealous knife

Slicing the soul

Into a thousand molecules

Life has stolen my voice
