Lump (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is lump.

It was the height of summertime
A time of jazz and jubilee
Endless sunny dreams
A blue sky painted for me
One lump or two for your tea
More than sugar, an invitation
For perfect strangers
To leave as friends

August & Winning

Hi all,

I am happy to share this image for Watery Wednesday and Sky Watch Friday

Prism of light
Morning, afternoon, night
Reveals in height
Shades of beauty
August and winning
Moments full and brimming
Morning, afternoon, night
Prism of light

Niche (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following for O.S.I. and the theme is niche.

Art gratified
Personified on glass
On canvas, on wood
Distinct and beautiful
Ageless and faceless
Stencil, charcoal, paint
Political, satirical, spiritual
Life and breath
In each brushstroke
An artist's niche

Friend (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

This poem is written for O.S.I. and the theme is friend.  I imagined a pair of rugged cowboys from an old Western when I wrote this. Hope you enjoy!!

They are silent
Two dark specks
On desert earth
Renegades
Of the old age
Only horse hooves
Stirs in silence
Bone of bone
Flesh of flesh
Two pairs of eyes
Quick hands
Trigger ready
And thirsty
In hot pink sun
Friendship
Old as dirt

Balloon (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following for O.S.I. and the theme is balloon.

He was a quiet man that longed to gaze at azure skies
And did so frequently that his eyes turned blue
Found his nights so lonely, he whispered to the stars
And confided in clouds his wildest dreams
So the man of azure eyes pondered and schemed
How he could ascend beyond these earthly beings
A street vendor promised flight on angel's wings
A woman praised her magic carpet's quality
A boy swore by roots in the Orient
An eagle begged to carry him to his lament
Then the man with quiet azure eyes gazed up
And found a large balloon as bright as sun
Hopped aboard before they could protest
And found his home in the heaven's at last

Hawaii (Acrostic)

Hi all,

I am participating at Acrostic Only and the word is Hawaii. I would love a vacation to this destination!

Honey bees and hummingbirds
Awake my smiling eyes
Winsome fragrance they tantalize
An inner tropical paradise
Indigo skies are pure
Invitations to exotic shorelines

4th of July (Poetry)

Wishing you all a Happy 4th of July.

Young one
Salutes a flag
Not knowing
The blood shed
The midnight cry
Sleepless nights
Fight, loss, victory

Young one
Salutes the red
Salutes the white
Salutes the blue
Sees the tears
In mama's eyes
Tell a story
Of sacrifice

Kite (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing for O.S.I. and the theme is kite.  Hope you enjoy.

A dreamer ties thoughts
High upon a string in blue skies
And never looks back

Remember kites soar
Beyond imagination
Free to roam and be
