Subscribe (Nonet)

Hi all,

This poem is written for Sunday Scribblings, and the theme is subscribe.

In shadows she entices his gaze
With rose-colored lips and a wink
Twirls her sky-blue parasol
And bends it in a stream
Which way to the park
Subscribe your thoughts
Only yield
To me
Please

Rescue (O.S.I)

Princess of the night
Does not seek to be rescued
She rides with the moon

Birds of a Feather

We are two, strong birds
Gliding in the morning breeze
Just drink in the sun

Retirement (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is retirement:

Where do honey bees retire
In the cleft of a sunset
Buzzing into the afternoon
Of an orange breeze
And bluebirds
Intoxicated by bluer waters
Make their homes in the sea
And angels
Do they pass as clouds
Ascend from earth to heaven
For human hearts
I hesitate
Which place to retire?

Freedom

This poem is written in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King and his legacy:

Freedom, liberty
An unborn hope
In the womb
Of a place
Called America
A flicker of light
A courage birthed
In darkness
In marches
In bloodshed
Seated at a table
With fate and her children
But destiny
Awaited opportunity
For the appointed moment
To raise her torch
For all-time

Dusk (Haiku Heights)

Soul dips in sunset
Sweetness of pink and purple
Darkness receives light

And thoughts drop in dusk
Remain in the heart like rain
That falls in moonlight

Thanks for reading.  This week's theme is dusk:

Spring Cometh

The great sun
Heats the cold, winter sky
A promise that spring is coming

Happy Sky Watch!

Naked (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is naked.

One vulnerable day
The naked earth
Covered herself
In lush, green leaves
To hide her beauty
From the sun
Though his love
Never waned
As he grew distant
In a winter sky
And when he returned
During the bloom of spring
The earth birthed children
And named them sunflowers

In the Land of Giant Sweaters

Hi all,

Today, I am inspired by the image over at Magpie Tales.  Hope you enjoy!

I love to disappear
Into my sweater
As the world
Slips away
Into a pink forest
Of knitted bliss
Where my limbs
Stretch into a cocoon
Five sizes too big
I believe
Its previous owner
Was a giant

Jazz Paradise

Hi bloggers,

I am excited to pen a couple of poems over at Sunday Scribblings and Carpe Diem.

Sounds of music notes
Drift with its jazz-like face full
Of a newborn glow

And the trumpeter
Lulls lovers to dance free in
Bluesy paradise

Soar (Sky Watch)

Boy
A bird
Beseeches
You fly fearless
Soar.

Time
To stretch
Those great wings
Beyond the sky
Soar.

Script (Haiku)

Hi all,

I am writing for Haiku Heights and the theme is script:

God's plan intrigues me
Off the script, ink falls like rain
The day rewritten

Tomorrow borrows
Brokered time for man pining
For a better script

Peace (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is peace.

Lil' angel
With chocolate-brown eyes
I come in peace
Through the window
Of your soul
Making the night, day
And wiping your tears downstream
My arms are like wood
That burns the cold night away
And my bread is sweet
To deny the fangs of hunger
Shall we fly
Leave the world behind
With joy and wonder

Jules Best Friend (Flash 55)

Happy Saturday Night,

Here's a short tale in 55 words or under.  Hope you enjoy:

Jules taught his dog tricks like how to sniff for buried treasure or walk on his hind legs to accept coins from strangers.  Or he'd wait by tables and collect tips from the busboys in white aprons.  He had kind, brown eyes and a wagging tail.  The perfect accomplice.

Here's to the future
Which in a moment
Of beauty
Ventures forth
In brilliant colors

Watching (O.S.I.)

Happy New Year!

I am writing this poem for O.S.I. and the theme is watching.

A boy entreated the universe
To bear its secrets
In the night sky
To gleam metaphors
From the stars
Spin verse and poetry
From the winged crickets
In the wild grass

The foolish boy demanded
Hollered and scowled
At the tall, black trees
That guarded his house
And the owl's hoot
Brought the lad back
To his senses

The moon watched
Dipped his top hat
Into a river
That rippled new light
And chased the boy
Through a field of fireflies
Read him a story
Kissed the boy goodnight
