Cocoon

The capacity to dwell
In a darkened cocoon
Blanketed in an unwanted womb
The world laughs excitedly
Outside these walls
Impatient caterpillar
Wills his wings to grow
But nature hums
Be patient my love
He shakes violently
Tears drop like dew
On his outer shell
His joys are few
Blue notes he sings
Till spring breaks the womb
