Spots a birdie, his alone
A winged friend to follow home

Along the rooftop
In tribute
To his friend
Though his eyes
Have betrayed
The memory
Of her beauty

He is present
In the scent of summer
In the rouge of fall
In whispers through grass
In the song of the breeze
As it passes through his wings

And the age
Of his memory
