Spectacles (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I am writing the following poem for O.S.I. and the theme is spectacles.

His eyes failed him
Dimmed as the sun
Took a final curtain call
It burned like wax
Along the horizon
And the trees
Waved to him
Like old friends

His God given lens
Out of focus
Dim and dull
Made the world
More sinister
Full of shadows

So he let his other senses
Guide him
He felt the wood
As old as him
The groves and nicks
He carved as a lad

He felt the wind
Caress him
Like an old love
Her cool, elusive touch
Made the trees shudder
The leaves sigh
And the birds chime

As light reciprocated
Her warmth
And wilted into darkness

The ending makes me wonder if at his old age, he was reunited with his love who went before him.

Lovely wordplay as always WG.

As the cycle of human life, so the cycle of seasons. You capture the grace and the pathos here. Thank you.
