Reflections: A Star Is Born?

My mind travels to the classic black and white film A Star is Born, a movie that follows a young girl from her small-town world into a smashing success. Granted, I do not desire fame or fortune but I envision myself as that wide eyed, precocious girl, swooning on fantasies and drunk with hope. Sometimes, I am peeking from my window (or computer screen) for the next big thing, eagerly awaiting destiny like the horizon embracing the sun. But it doesn't come. My destiny lags behind on the clock of my world. Dreary weather paints my canvas with rain tapping against my mind. A star is born everyday, I remind myself. But the star in me flickers dimly and I run like the wind endlessly chasing dreams.

I know what you mean, but it's ok.. I did that too (your younger) but we're better off. Its just that the world's system weighs heavily on us- that other realm..it doesn't let up. I wanted to quote something but can't find it right now. I'll be back- hugs-

Hey WG,

Very expressive - and so filled with self analysis. That's where it all starts, isn't it, after all?

'Drunk with Hope'?!

Whoa..i LOVED tht line!! Loved it!

First of all, excellent write-up! Very well written!!

About it, we all wish upon a star, pray for a miracle and pray like crazy...and in response, I'd quote wat Michael said in PB;

'Be the change u want to see in the world' ;)

Keep ur chin up!!

Only vaguely related to the above, but I clicked your link to your reviews in Attribute Magazine and you have a firm grip on a reviewer's tongue. A lot of people flail (and fail) with that because they try to punch it up, but you seem to have the words chiseled out of marble. I see all those nights awake when I visit come to solid form.

Thanks for stopping by EcoRover and giving me a way to discover your good writing. Because of my profession and proclivity, I approach writing as craft. But I appreciate the creativity of writers such as you.
