O.S.I.: Mask

This week's O.S.I. prompt is mask. I used the poetic form Rondelet in this piece.

Her moon shaped mask
Illuminates in the night sky
Her moon shaped mask
Falls to the earth and her skin wanes
A life once lived in subtle lies
Unravels from the hands which tie
Her moon shaped mask

Peel off the mask
Like petals torn in darkened skies
Peel off the mask
Her vision cascading like rain
Secrets flutter and shadows fly
Naked face mirrors her own lies
Peel off the mask

I am thinking of an eclipse.

I loved reading this. It's very emotional -- I could actually feel what the persona in your poem felt. Nostalgic. Gave me goose bumps. I hope you don't mind, but I would love to try my hand at a rondelet, as well.

Hi W.G, you did good with this rondelet! I checked out your label to find that this is the first one you have published here.
Please try some more!
I was thinking while reading that sometimes we like the masked person better. Question: if the mask is removed can we have her/him put it back on and will that fix things to be like before?

Incredible. I am thinking of all the organic components of this mask and how easily pretense can fall away. Sometimes.

Peeling the mask takes courage....But it is needed to move on...

I like the "raw" feel of these emotions. Great imagery too.

As your poem suggests, peeling off a mask can be perilous...

Impressionable mask
