A Fool's Paradise (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

I've written the following poem for O.S.I. The inspiring theme this week is A Fool's Paradise:

Youth is a paradise
Of acquaintances and friends
Of rendezvous and romance
Of parties and mirth
Of beauty and thrill

Youth is a paradise
For two
Of sunrise and passion
Of spring and bloom
Of nakedness and games
Of thrills and dates

Youth is a paradise
Of fools
Of shameless lies
Of betrayals
Of doom
Of fights
Of chase
Of risk
Of flight

While age
At last
A sanctuary
An island
Of peace
From youth

As I read this, images of my 17 and 19 year old flashed through my mind :) I have 2 girls, and 2 boys- to which I refer to as our "munchkins." But as I kept reading, I also saw how this applied to ME! I mean, one is as young as he/she feels :)
Wonderful poem- Much Love & Peace to you~

Great words. I often look back on my youth and think: no wonder I'm exhausted.

Beautiful poem, I think we all have within us a paradise and the nice thing is to discover and share.

A well-thought of post Write Girl, I like the dramatic metamorphosis one has to go through...and you are not amiss of any phase in your words...

Only reminds me of my youth, I did not enjoy it that much coz I grew up in a poor family working so hard to help my parents...Sad isn't it?

I dunno..At 60, I'm not really feeling the sanctuary... yet. Maybe tomorrow, eh?

Such a thoughtful poem! There is a lot of truth in your words that makes me glad I haven't experienced some of these in my youth though I have seen it in the lives of others. This was really good, thanks for sharing it!

This builds dramatically and moves elegantly. Great job.

Beautiful. Makes me want to cherish my youth, even if it is a fool's paradise. :)
