Fall

Happy Autumnal Equinox to all!

Fall
Leaves bleed
Red, brown, and gold
And the air
Crisply unfolds
A lace
Of wintry cold

The sun lingers
While naked limbs
Old tree barks
And green buds
Nestle contently
Awaiting springs lips

Pumpkin pie
Wafts high
Like smoke
From chimneys
Black and orange dye
Paint driveways
Beneath ghoulish skies

Skeleton eyes
And jack o lanterns
Gape from darkness
Like luminous masters

Cider brewing
Apples bobbing
Soon young hearts dream
Of wintry islands

As fall settles
On a bed of leaves
Her summertime sister
Drifts to sleep

WG, this is lovely. My favorite lines are:

Old tree barks
And green buds
Nestle contently
Awaiting springs lips

Beautiful images that flow so well.

On a bed of leaves
Her summertime sister
Drifts to sleep" Very pretty-
Nice one!

so sad one door closing and another opening; at least we know there are more to come

This was really wonderful. Fall is my favorite season and I think you did a great job of capturing the drama and the changes of the season in such a poetic and creative way. Well done!!!
