Man on the Rocks

This week's Simply Snicker's challenge includes the words bare, bark, and beside. The accompanying painting is Caspar David Friedrich's Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. His painting is quite vivid and lovely. Much thanks to Linda. For some reason, the painting made me think of something somber.

Man on the rocks
Overlooking
Ominous rocks
Bare soul
Beats against the breeze

Tormented mind
Barks back in the dark
Looming are the sharks
Beside the still rocks

Pitter patter goes his heart
Peace be still
He whispered to the fog
Waves swallowing hard
Broke his soul in shards

Time is the sea
Rising, falling
Against the breeze

Wonderful lines. If I'm remembering correctly this image is used on a jacket cover of a book, “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” by the great German philosopher, Nietzsche. The ominous lines here are representative of Nietzsche’s "ubermensche," except for this "super man" reigns and isn't broken.

The power of the mind is well painted with the force of the waves..:)

Neatly flown rhythm..:)

"he whispered to the fog...", perhaps a pray.
this is a sober painting. his soul being
battered against the rocks - one gets that
feeling & write girl you captured the contemplative mood of this painting.
