I Know Not Why

I know not why
Her eyelids lie
Perpendicular to her cheeks
Which casts a line
To a choir of tears
She hums but does not speak

I know not why
The moon is mine
Engaging eyes
His gaze is fine
I’d kiss his crown
Till sun goes down
Dawn’s song is slow and meek

I know not why
The world is full
Of candy sweetened rain
My tongue leaps out
Down the water spout
A blissful springtime fling
