We Introduce Ourselves

Hi all,

This piece was inspired by the first line of Emily Dickinson's poem We Introduce Ourselves.

We introduce ourselves
In passing smiles
Pearly gates
Across those lips

How you beguile
Erstwhile you kindle
Summer glances
And romances
‘Neath the city

Skyline of tangerine
Against pristine
Steel and concrete
Pausing at our
Statue of Liberty

Swirl of car horns
Taxi cabs
Flagging yellow
In concrete meadows

It is ours
We introduce ourselves
Scaling towers
Beyond this city

ED does NYC--love it! Dickinson is a favorite poet of mine, and I could imagine her finding a bit of grace and beauty in the swirl of mid-town, just as you did.
