Because she possessed a familiar face
His eyes were transfixed upon her
Whether a dream or an old embrace
He sincerely pondered
Because she possessed a familiar face

Simple yet so effective!!! I have been in such circumstances quite a few times. It is quite embarrassing to get caught when she looks at him with his eyes that "transfixed" upon her. Been there as well. Heh!!!
I like how you started with "because". It is the like we are being allowed to overhear a piece of this intimate conversation. Capturing a moment can be so beautifully displayed in a brief poem like this one!
This is such a lovely poem. You always wonder where have I seen this person before? very nice!:) keep going!!
