Grand Sky

Hi all,

If you visit Grand Central in NYC, you may be greeted by a beautiful, teal sky. The grand entry to the station also beams in teal splendor.

The city
Pleasures us

Place (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

Here are a few verses for O.S.I. The theme this week is place:

I have carved a place
In the crevice of your heart
Warm, abiding space of love
I wrap myself giddy
In the tapestry of your touch

We Introduce Ourselves

Hi all,

This piece was inspired by the first line of Emily Dickinson's poem We Introduce Ourselves.

We introduce ourselves
In passing smiles
Pearly gates
Across those lips

How you beguile
Erstwhile you kindle
Summer glances
And romances
‘Neath the city

Skyline of tangerine
Against pristine
Steel and concrete
Pausing at our
Statue of Liberty

Swirl of car horns
Taxi cabs
Flagging yellow
In concrete meadows

It is ours
We introduce ourselves
Scaling towers
Beyond this city

Perfect Shade of Yellow

Hi all,

This is a fresh poem I am eager to share with you.

I am that perfect shade of yellow
Dewdrops from the sun above
I am the yellow of tulips
Flirting in the spring
I am the yellow summertime
Whipping against your knees
I am the butterfly poemed in yellow
Wrapped in a cocoon of bliss
I am the yellow egg that hisses
I am the yellow squeezed from oranges
I am that arching sun that greets you
And sets my head to meet you
I am befriending, yellow, and meek

Shackles (O.S.I.)

Hi all,

Here is my poem for O.S.I and the theme is shackles.

Shackles can come undone
If your mind let’s the world
Flow freely and speak freely
Uncage the mind of reason
Be open in every season
Receiving and giving as the sea
With window eyes to spot the key
That may release your inner being
Shackles can come undone

Thankful Sunday III

Here are my thoughts of gratitude from my journal:

Sharing poetry
Time on earth
Dreams are possible
God answers prayers
A new day is like starting over
Nighttime is a place of reflection
All things are possible
Faith moves mountains

Sky & Poetry

Hi Skywatchers,

I am combining my sky watch post with my love for poetry. Today is Poem In Your Pocket Day. Here are my creative thoughts.

The sky is the color of storm glass
I can fold in my pockets
Stretch, wiggle, and giggle
This world I call imagination

Lips Don't Lie

Hi all,

I wrote this poem a few months back, but spring fever and the hum of summer prompted me to post this piece. Perhaps summer love and new opportunities await in the near future!

You are intoxicated by the mosquito scent of summers gone by
Turning its lazy head upon an everlasting sun
I have taken my seat in some girlish youth
Picking those dandelions straight from their roots
My lips don’t lie but you’ve never loved me
Never noticed the pout on my lips, the curl of my vowels
The vibrato and melody of my vocal chords
You’ve never noticed them perhaps till now
I can’t read you, you’ve passed over to daylight
And daydreamed where the clouds divide in the sky
Say a prayer for me in those great, blue heavens
Awaiting your love, my lips don’t lie

Reciprocate (O.S.I.)

Hi all, This poem is written for O.S.I. and the theme this week is reciprocate.

Sun and moon
Reciprocates light
Full and radiant
In blue dotted skies
Waiting to rise and sleep
And rise again
Crowning the earth
In continual splendor

Thankful Sunday II

Here are some things I'm thankful for this week:

The melody and vibrato of words
Beautiful metaphors
The discovery of new words
The aroma of a new book
Flipping to the next page
Singing to myself
A moment of silence
Smiles from strangers
Random acts of kindness
Digging deep and finding the answer
Saying yes
Finding light in darkness

Laying in Metaphors

Hi all,

Here is my latest freestyle poem. Hope you enjoy!!

I can lay against your back
And feel the currents of metaphors
Sliding against each vertebra

I can lay in the pool of your verse
Sweet innocent curves
Tickle my ears

I can lay in the bed of your tongue
Strumming your throat
Metaphors slow and long

Epidemic (O.S.I.)

This poem is written for O.S.I. and this week's theme is epidemic. This poem gravitates to a more emotional place for me than some of my other writings. Hope you enjoy my latest work.

The river divides my tongue

In salty gulps

Blue and glistening

Swimming in sorrow

Hatred an epidemic

With a jealous knife

Slicing the soul

Into a thousand molecules

Life has stolen my voice

The river divides my tongue
