Comeback (Acrostic)
Cradle me once more
Open up your heart
Make this moment beautiful
Empty out your doubts
Back into these memories
Allow the blue skies
Calling one more time
Kiss and love me

My 3rd Blogiversary
On Feb 15, 2009 I embarked on this journey of blogging. It felt like I was writing in the dark and was seemingly alone. Then, I met all of you. It has been a beautiful journey of writing, reading, and enjoying all of your visits and posts. Thank you to my 300+ bloggers and countless visitors for making my 3rd Blogiversary so sensational.
I am a daughter
Penned in black
As white pages ruffle
Against my back
I extend my heart
To an audience
As wide and vast
As the rising sea

Ode to Valentine
I hope everyone has a joyous and beautiful Valentine's Day. May we all feel the love from the wonderful family and friends in our lives! (The photos above are from Macy's Valentine store windows. Very festive!)
In paper mache symmetry
Lay it out with your earth worn hands
Exhaling sweetness into me
Couplets like rain drizzle down my cheeks
Did you canvas my river in roses
Release pink blossoms with their petals down
Wade in a water of moonbeams
Until we wake in sunlight
Splashing into uncharted seas
But I’d prefer no fantasy
Just feel the love inside of me

Renewal (O.S.I.)

Hi all,
I am happy to share a new poem this Christmas evening:
Holidays become quiet sublime silences
The sweetness of cocoa gone
The tinsel on the tree bare
The gifts unwrapped
And somehow
We share
A love
Renewed

Poinsettia Lips
Hope you are all enjoying the holiday season. Here is a poem I recently penned.
I thought in poinsettia lips
Their symmetrical red tips
Gazing at the snow
And plucked them all
In my waning mind
He loves me…loves me not
Petals drop in silence
I smile into lights

Urn (Haiku Heights)
I've written a pair of haikus for Haiku Heights. The theme this week is urn.
Burn in morning light
Ashes pour out in the wind
Spirit of the earth
The urn casts shadow
Of memory and love peaks
In a timeless song

Present & Past: An Intersection
I'd like to share a short story I wrote about the present and past. Hope you enjoy
The present and past had spotted each other at a long intersection. There were birthdays sandwiched in between colorful cone hats and frosted cakes. There was the occasional child’s tooth floating by. The tooth fairy had forgotten to collect it as it drifted like a white star. There were children who built their sand castles as tall as the heavens. They became lost friends of memory with forgotten names.
There were former lovers with a single rose in their hands. Their faces grew more abstract and vacant. They rose like flames in the moonlight, waltzing silently. A woman dressed in red led them, collecting roses beneath her feet.
There was youth smiling like the sun without care or worry. And the moon had leaned upon it and made the world regard the phenomena.
The present split the crowd for the opportunity to talk to her past. But the past stops for no one, retracing her footsteps, always glancing back.

Memory, Love, and White Walls

Hi all,
This is posted for the meme at It’s Thursday. This short story is a bit emotional and raw but the image moved me to write this way.
The walls were white, Lori observed. Her husband had been vacant and blank like them. His eyes were glazed over in a darkened spell. Depression clung to the walls of the naked room.
Lori was fed up with him. The husband with dead eyes. The husband with cold lips. There he lay rotting away in his mind.
She let the memories of him possess her. His hot love withering in the winter of their marriage. His taunt muscles plucked at the bone. His countenance shattered like glass on the floor. Lori tried to glue together pieces of him, to resurrect him from his bed of misery.
The bills mounted. Life had choked up their dreams. Lori flattened her body against the walls. Those cold bare walls…
“I’m going to make you beautiful,” she whispered. She splattered red paint against the walls in confusion and madness. Her palms landed against them harder and harder. She couldn’t stop kicking and screaming.
Red paint now washed over her skin. She was bleeding on the inside, feeling her heart explode and sink into darkness.
Then two arms seized her from behind. Lori froze as she felt his strong heartbeat against her back. His body moved with heat like a slow, crackling fire. He spun her around and studied her dark eyes soften in his. Tears rained down as she spoke.
“You were asleep so long. I thought I had lost you,” Lori whispered. His skin felt like clay in her hands. He could be loved and molded again.
“Baby, I know,” he answered. They bended to the silence and held each other till the walls crumbled and the sunlight danced across their bodies.

Simply Snickers & Labor Day
I am posting this for Simply Snickers and Labor Day. The words are labor, lies, life, linger, and love.
Laboring by moonlight
Or candlelight
Under the blazing sun
Or the silvery moon
Life’s distant smile
Bares your face
Can it erase
The lies you’ve chased
To discover what you love
On the wings of a dove
At the tip of your spoon
Crying out to the moon
Linger in prayer
Swept up in your hair
Dreams of the future
A labor of love

Obsession (O.S.I.)
This week's theme at O.S.I. is obsession. Here is my poem:
I look for love
Between those eyes
This obsessive nature
Of mine
Won’t have me quit
Until I die
My heart consumed
I look for love
Between those eyes

Carnival of Lights
Hi all,
The following story is written for Thursday Tales. The inspiring image comes from NineteenCID.
He called my name through the whir of carnival lights. The air smelled of cotton candy and popcorn. He wrapped his arms around me like a sweater. The brisk, autumn air kissed my cheeks.
“Let’s take a ride on those swings,” he smiled. He put his fingers through mine and lifted my hand into the air. When he touched me, I could feel butterflies rise in my stomach. I laughed like a school girl.
We stood in line stealing kisses when I noticed a proposal strung up in neon lights: Will you marry me?
“Who’s the lucky girl,” I laughed, glancing into his dancing eyes.
“I’m looking at her,” he smiled slyly. I fell back in surprise and my mouth flew open. This tipsy, giddy feeling swept over me. His body was the only thing keeping me up.
“I don’t know what to say,” I stammered. My quivering lips met his with the answer.
“Just say yes,” he whispered. He knelt carrying a velvet box. My eyes welled up in surprising joy as I hung my arms around his neck.
I felt young, barely five, when I rode with a giddy grin in the carnival of lights.

O.S.I.: Uncomfortable
This week's theme at O.S.I. is uncomfortable. Here is my take:
Willing to smile in a place unfamiliar to myself
To extend my hand beyond what is required
To listen and laugh even when I am tired
To love even in the midst of pain
To dance in the falling rain
To stretch beyond the comfort of my walls
To answer when the world calls

Need (O.S.I)
Here is a new poem for O.S.I. This week's theme is need.
Bears need honey like I need you
A pot of sweetness when I'm feeling blue
Golden joy sweetened by your smile
That lasts from sun up to sun down
Earth needs sun like I need you
The light of dawn to chase the moon
A wash of sunbeam in your glance
That fills my heart with pure romance

Strings in Three Haikus
I have written three haikus for Haiku Heights. The theme this week is strings.
May I take your strings
Unravel them from each hook
Pry open your heart
Almost free of strings
Bid the world a last goodbye
A home in the sky
Down the string of love
How you swing with joy to me
Open wide my heart

In Daddy's Arms

In daddy’s arms, little Robert drops his brown eyes into his chest. Daddy’s heart patters steady and strong like a beating drum. As daddy’s lips touches the crown of his little head, he hums a song. He sings of a world of little boys on grand adventures out to sea. He sings Robert across the ocean, past the moon, and uncharted seas. He sings of fairy tales and friendly creatures, unusual and rare. He sings of sky in all shimmering hues, and Robert catches a glimpse of heaven. In daddy’s arms, little Robert fits snugly like a glove. In daddy’s arms, Robert feels unmeasured love.

Rambling (O.S.I.)

Hi all,
This poem is written for O.S.I. This week's theme is rambling.
Us
Rambling
Foolish hearts
Sitting real tall
Shooting with the wind
Riding the morning sun
Chasing our stilted shadows
Following children after dark
Drinking in summer’s endless nights
Up
Rambling
The dawn laughs
Wet, new morning
Rain showers soak us
Dancing feet in couplets
Embracing the body of time
Riding on the surprise of love
Living and loving and rambling on

Love (O.S.I.)

Hi all,
This week's beautiful theme at O.S.I. is love. Here is my poem:
Every ounce
Of love
Pours out
Like raindrops
On rooftops
As tears dry
On glass windows
Winning smile
A silver lining
In the sky
If only
She recognized
The strength
Of his love
